What’s the difference between a Binder turbine and a counter-current jet?
Conventional jets produce a narrow, punctual current that pushes the swimmer down. Binder turbines generate a wide, even current, both on the surface and at depth, reproducing the natural feel of a river. The result: a comfortable swim, without splashing or excessive noise.
Can a counter-current swim be installed on an existing pool?
In fact, it’s one of Binder’s specialties. The EasyStar system is suspended from the edge of the pool using an installation bracket. No masonry work, no drilling into the structure. Installation takes just a few hours and is fully reversible.
What’s the minimum pool size?
For the EasyStar system, a minimum of 5 m in length and 2.5 m in width is required. For HydroStar, 4.5 m × 2.5 m is sufficient. The SwimStar can be installed in pools only 2 m wide. And the LittleStarlet is even suitable for very small spaces.
How much electricity does a Binder turbine consume?
Consumption varies according to power. For example, a 1350 W SwimStar turbine consuming 1 hour per day costs around CHF 15/month in electricity (at CHF 0.30/kWh). Binder turbines are designed to be energy-efficient.
Does the turbine make noise?
No, Binder turbines are renowned for their low noise and vibration levels. You can swim without disturbing the neighbors.
Can current intensity be adjusted?
Yes, all Binder turbines are equipped with a dimmer switch. You can adjust the power via remote control, piezo switch or Binder24 app, depending on the model.
Is swimming against the current suitable for children?
Absolutely! Children love to play in the current. At low intensity, it’s perfect for wading and having fun. Binder turbines are suitable for the whole family, from the youngest to the most experienced athletes.
Do I need three-phase power to install a turbine?
No, that’s one of the major advantages of Binder turbines. They operate on standard 230V single-phase. No need for costly electrical work.
How long does a Binder turbine last?
Binder turbines are built to last. They are maintenance-free and come with a 3-year warranty (2 years for SwimStar). With normal use, they will last for many years.
