An Astro Piscines design:
Why choose an automatic pool cover?
The automatic roller shutter is the top-of-the-range solution for demanding homeowners. Here are its key benefits:
Extra safety for children
AquaTop shutters comply with standard NF P90-308. When closed, they support the weight of an adult and prevent accidental falls into the pool. It’s a safety device recognized in Switzerland for protecting young children.
Unrivalled ease of use
Just press the remote control, and your pool is covered or uncovered in less than two minutes. No more tedious handling of covers. AquaTop covers can also be controlled via smartphone using the COVER-U app, or integrated into your home automation system.
Significant energy savings
An automatic shutter reduces heat loss by over 80%. As a result, your heat pump works less, and you save on your electricity bill. Solar-powered polycarbonate louvers also capture the sun’s energy to heat water free of charge (+3 to +5°C gain).
Clean water and reduced maintenance
When closed, the flap protects the water from leaves, insects, pollen and dust. This reduces filtration time and the consumption of treatment products. The CoverWash option (integrated high-pressure cleaning) facilitates blade maintenance.

Our AquaTop immersed shutters: the complete range
The submerged shutter disappears under the water line when open. Invisible, it preserves the aesthetics of your pool. T&A offers 8 models to suit all pool configurations.

Installing an automatic shutter: what you need to know
For a new pool or one under construction
Ideally, the shutter should be installed at the design stage. The technical room and reservations must be sized to accommodate the system. All submerged models are compatible with this configuration.
For existing pools (renovation)
You have two options:
- Reno Line immersed shutter: requires masonry work to create the roll-up pit.
- Above-ground roller shutter: installation without work, the box is installed at the end of the pool. → See our Above-ground roller shutter page
Control systems
AquaTop shutters can be controlled by :
- Key switch (standard)
- Radio remote control
- COVER-U smartphone application
- Home automation integration (standard protocol)

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about automatic shutters
How much does an automatic pool cover cost?
Budget varies according to model and size. Expect to pay between CHF 10,000 and CHF 20,000 for an AquaTop submerged shutter, including installation. Above-ground shutters start at around CHF 6,000. Ask for a personalized quote for a precise estimate.
How long does a pool cover last?
A well-maintained AquaTop shutter lasts 15 to 20 years. Blades can be replaced individually if necessary. Maintenance is limited to regular cleaning and an annual check of the motor.
Can I walk on a closed pool cover?
For safety reasons, AquaTop shutters conform to NF P90-308 and can support the weight of an adult. However, it is not recommended to walk on them regularly to preserve the slats and mechanism.
PVC or polycarbonate slats: which to choose?
Opaque PVC is ideal if you want to keep your water out of sight and your budget under control. Polycarbonate (especially the Quadro range) offers superior solar effect, greater resistance and a more modern look, but at a higher price.
Does the automatic shutter really heat the water?
Yes, solar polycarbonate slats (Quadro range) capture the sun’s energy and transmit it to the water. Estimated gain: +3 to +5°C depending on sunshine. Above all, the shutter limits heat loss at night, preserving the heat acquired.
